Over 30 designers to show at Pakistan Fashion week, London

More than 30 well known Pakistani designers will showcase their lines of eclectic clothing at the forthcoming sixth edition of Pakistan Fashion Week (PFW) in London.

Themed as ‘Weddings of Asia’, the event, highlighting the country’s trademark bejewelled bridal designs, prêt-a-porter and haute couture creations, is slated to take place from May 30 to June 1, 2014.

The event will be opened by Five Star Textile, Bashir Ahmad and the Lahore-based retailer Poshak Mahal. The brands will feature their latest ready-to-wear Lawn collections, replete with digital prints and intricate embroidery.

In addition to the above mentioned labels, names like Shariq Textile, Aasme (owned by designer Asma Afzal) and Marium D Rizwan will also present their new wedding fashion interpretations on the first day.

The second day of the event will see heavily embellished ensembles from Karachi’s Asian Institute of Fashion Design graduate Rizwan Ahmed, Pakistani celebrity favoured designer Moazzam Abbasi and Rana Noman.

The third and final day of the event will see designs from the internationally acclaimed Pakistani designer Zainab Chottani, luxury label Lajwanti (from designer Shawana Afzal) and menswear brand Vavci.

Also names like Al Zohaib, Stush, Waseem Noor, Mona Imran, Zeeshan Bariwala, Ayeshah Aijaz and Zaheer Abbas will display their collections on the three-day event’s specially designed 70-foot-long catwalk.

Apart from the runway shows, the soiree will also feature an exhibition selling fresh designs selected right from the fashion parades.

Held twice a year, PFW is organised by the very popular Pakistani designer Adnan Ansari’s UK-based banner Riwayat, which is dedicated to promote and support the country’s fashion, music and literature in the European markets.
