Marchesa swaps New York for London Fashion Week

To ring in its 10th year, the popular American celebrity favoured red carpet clothing expert Marchesa will swap New York for London Fashion Week.

The label, which normally shows at the bi-annual New York Fashion Week (NYFW), is prepping up to unveil its Spring/Summer 2015 collection at the forthcoming September calendar of London Fashion Week.

According to WWD, the move will be a one-off celebration as the label plans to move back to the Big Apple again for NYFW’s February, 2015 schedule.

Co-founded by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in 2004, the New York-based Marchesa specializes in ready-to-wear, couture and bridal lines. The label is favoured by the likes of Penélope Cruz, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Selena Gomez and Halle Berry.

London seems to be fast emerging as a favourite venue for leading international fashion houses. Recently, the Italian luxury label Moschino also swapped its regular catwalk platform Milan fashion Week for the British capital.

The Milan-based brand will showcase its new Spring-2015 menswear range, designed by the house’s new creative director of American origin Jeremy Scott at the forthcoming June 2014 instalment of London Collections: Men (LC: M).

In addition to the male fashion pieces, the runway show will also feature around 15 ensembles from the label’s spring/summer 2015 women’s pre-collection.
