Versace celebrates Brazil's FIFA World Cup with style

Ahead of the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Italian fashion house Versace has created a special soccer-inspired T-shirt, reflecting the vivid iconography of the Brazilian carnival.
 
Replete with eye-catching boldly coloured patterns, the round neck, short sleeve shirt, designed by the label’s current chief designer Donatella Versace, features leopard, football, gold chain and flower prints along with silhouettes of footballers.
 
The editor’s note on Versace website describes the shirt as “To celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Donatella Versace has created a special t-shirt that combines the passions of football with the vivid iconography of the Versace DNA.”
 
“A brand new Versace baroque print is created using the colors of a Brazilian carnival, decorated with repeated images footballs and flowers. Gold chains and leopard print add luxury, while silhouettes of football players connect the glamour of Versace with the sportsmanship of Brazil. At the heart of the t-shirt is the iconic Medusa head, with a special Versace rock twist.”
 
Founded in 1978, the Milan-based Versace label designs, markets, and distributes luxury clothing, accessories and home furnishings. The brand’s sub labels include Versace Couture, Versus Versace, Versace Collection and Versace Jeans.
 
In addition to Versace’s shirt, the popular Italian internet mail order retailer Yoox has also launched a collaborative T-shirt collection, inspired from the upcoming World Cup in Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, with designers belonging to the 10 most soccer crazy nations across the globe.
 
The names in the fashion partnership are Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (Spain), Juun J (Korea) Ksubi (Australia), Barbara Casasola (Brazil), Damir Doma (Germany) or Masha Ma (China), Ami (France), Duro Olowu (Nigeria) and MSGM (Italy).
