“The inspiration behind this outfit came from a technique that caught my eye at the Valentino exhibition at Somerset House. I am so excited to have my clothes featured in the Bright Young Things campaign as it’s such a great place for new talent and I am very grateful to be included within such a talented group” Commented Jordan.

The shoot also featured pieces from the Creative Award winners including: the design by Joanne Street who studied at the University of Derby and won the coveted Young Designer of the Year Award 2013; a handbag designed by Nadine Acquaah; a T-shirt designed by Hannah Dawes, and a customised OnePiece onesie by Georgina Ingledew.

Freelance makeup artist Charli Avery created several different looks for the shoot.  ‘We’re doing four looks, inspired by bright colours and pops of neon.  One of my favourite looks for the day is the electric blue and green eye.’

Hair Stylist, Jimmy Bilton of Taylor Taylor London, who has assisted for Vogue in the past and been hairstylist to Rita Ora, commented ‘Big hair, the use of fascinators, hats and other accessories is key for most traditional carnival hairstyles, but I wanted to use the idea of accessories in a more subtle way. I have used  hair extensions to create big, bold looks. I love to create out-there styles so being on set was really fun for me!’

Olivia was shot by last year’s Young Fashion Photographer of the Year, Lenny Codd, together with her mentor Claire Pepper, who won the same award back in 2008.

‘I was always interested in photography, but I really got into it when I realised it could be a career for me. It was a huge surprise to win Young Photogrpaher of the Year at Clothes Show Live. I was absolutely shocked to win! ‘I’ve never shot in a studio before for a fashion shoot – it’s really exciting. I am in charge of the ‘Behind The Scenes’ aspect of the shoot and I’m really enjoying it.’ Lenny commented.

Also in attendance at the shoot, Blogger of the Year winners, Remotely Fashion. ‘Since winning the award at Clothes Show Live last year things have gone crazy. Our blog has had so much more traffic; the award really catapulted us forward. We’ve had so many great opportunities to become involvedin the fashion world.’ commented Siobhan Sullivan, one of the writers for Remotely Fashion.

‘Attending Fashion Week (Feb 2014) with Sasha Wilkins (of Liberty London Girl) as part of our prize was the most amazing experience! We met some amazing people, saw shows that we would never have been able to see without Sasha. It was one of the best days of my life!’

As part of the Creavtive Awards, students and emerging designers were invited to submit their designs based on the carefully targeted briefs written with course criteria from leading examining bodies in mind. From the hundreds of entries received for each award, the submissions were shortlisted by a panel of industry experts, including representatives from Clothes Show Live and fashion industry commentator, Caryn Franklin.

The shortlisted finalists were invited to Clothes Show Live in December to see their designs showcased on the catwalk.  The winners went  on to receive amazing prizes including work placements, cash prizes, trophies and their work published online and in partnering magazine titles as well as being given the opportunity to participate in future Clothes Show Live shoots and events.
