Once again Princess Letizia came out in full support of Spanish designers during her first-ever public appearance as the Queen Letizia of Spain, wife of the newly crowned King Felipe VI of Spain, in a sophisticated off-white ensemble created by the Madrid-based designer Felipe Varela.

The 41-year-old queen, who is known for her love for Spanish labels like Mango and Zara, was seen sporting a simple shift dress paired with a pink crystal adorned cream coloured coat after the proclamation ceremony, which took place on June 19, 2014.

In the past, the royal, who was a former journalist and news anchor, has always managed to stand out in a crowd because of her choice of unconventional yet sophisticated clothing, such as pantsuits and side waist cinched little black dresses.

The fashion icon’s most talked about sartorial moments came through occasions like the 2010 Prince of Asturias Awards where she was spotted in an intricate, full-skirted Felipe Varela cocktail number.

She again made a fashion statement at the 2011’s dinner, where she dazzled in a fitted bodice and voluminous skirted scarlet gown by another Spanish designer Lorenzo Caprile, in honour of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

Again at a dinner hosted by the Dutch royal family on the eve of King Willem-Alexander’s investiture in April 2013, the queen donned a dramatic long-sleeved full length black dress from Spanish designer Felipe Varela.
