With an endeavour to encourage and promote the country’s upcoming talent, the Advisory Board members of Lakmé Fashion Week met and selected thirty nine designers for the Emerging category and the Jabong stage, who will show at the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. This season the applications saw an increase of 34% which reaffirms Lakmé Fashion Week’s growing popularity among the fresh talent in India.

A whopping total of 460 applications were recorded this season for across categories, including Gen Next. While the Emerging category received 140 applications marking a growth of 15% from the previous season; the Accessory category grew by 50%.

In its second season, the Jabong Stage has emerged as the perfect platform for the young designers to unleash their fresh and exciting collections. While the newly launched platform will showcase cutting edge styles by 20 designers, it will also host fashion workshops, seminars, launches and much more.

Select designer collections will be made available on www.jabong.com enabling fashion enthusiasts from across the country and worldwide to wear creations right off the ramp.

With this selection and the five additional names in the Gen-Next category announced earlier, a total of 44 new and upcoming talent will get a chance to showcase their collections at LFW WF 2014. With these three unique properties, LFW remains the most coveted platform for fashion talent in the country.

Commenting on the applications and chosen designers for the season, Saket Dhankar, Head-Fashion, IMGReliance, said, “Every season helps us promote a fresh crop of young designers who bring in a new dimension to the Indian fashion industry with their unique design sensibilities. The increased number of entries every season reaffirms the platform’s stature in terms of relevance and reach in the global fashion market. We hope that this platform continues to lead and produce some of the finest fashion designers in the country.”

The team of LFW Advisory Board members shortlisted the below listed young and talented designers for various categories, on the basis of the quality creations, innovation, marketability, originality and ability to legitimately take their business to the next level.
