The just concluded edition of Paris fashion week Men showed several eclectic lines of spring/summer 2015 menswear looks from a host of French and international fashion brands.

The American fashion designer of Chinese descent, Phillip Lim, combined elements of streetwear with classic preppy styles in his latest catwalk presentation staged on the second day. Replete with minimalist cuts and sharp tailoring, the sandy, navy, pale pink, black and white based range was decorated with plaids, checks and stripes. The line’s most standout pieces were functional boilersuits, formal suits, high-necked black shirts, printed asymmetrical tops and shorts.

Japanese brand Issey Miyake’s designer Yusuke Takahashi featured an environmentally conscious collection. Inspired from Palau islands, the line was adorned with crumpled finishes, and tie-and-dye and gradient prints as well as embroidered and intarsia patterns of marine life and tropical fruits such as bananas, pineapples, dragon fruits and deep sea fish.

Luxury French fashion house Givenchy’s Italian creative head Ricardo Tisci showcased a very practical black colour heavy collection on the third day. Decorated with thick stripes and floral prints, the line included long workwear jackets, short suits, T-shirts with deconstructed motifs, sweatshirts, semi-sheer white polos, strappy vests and long coats with aviator style pockets.

Scrawling from an old handwritten letter by the French luxury label Christian Dior’s eponymous founder played as inspiration for the label’s men’s fashion division Dior Homme’s Belgian creative helm Kris Van Assche. Scribbled with scripts from the archaic letter, the collection showcased shimmery horizontal pinstripe navy coloured suits with duffel toggles, scarves, Breton vests, yellow jackets, faded denims and perforated blue pea coats.

Saint Laurent Paris’ creative director Hedi Slimane celebrated the spirit of rock and roll through his new line which included crystal embedded metallic blanket ponchos, macramé capes, embroidered velvet blousons, denim jackets with metallic studs, fringed leather and suede jackets, military detailed blazers, linen caftans with gold filigree and sheepskin-edged vests.
