Oman hosting 'Muscat Gift' annual fair

Muscat Gift, a nine-day Fashion and Accessories' show, at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb from May 21, will show over 300 exhibitors from 18 countries around the globe.
It is anticipated to draw some 100,000 guests, its organizers informed at a news seminar here, yesterday.
Juma bin Mubarak al Araimi, Executive Manager of Al Sha'am Exhibitions, the organizers, said, "It will be a much bigger event this time."
"This is the first exhibition of the new shopping season, and it is keenly anticipated by consumers," Araimi said.
He added that the fair would now be an annual event and the exhibitors would include both manufacturers and retailers.
"Large stalls will hold a wide array of exotic and beautiful items from a host of nations, including Senegal," he added.
Senegal, participating for the first time along with South Korea and Vietnam, is likely to be a major hit with visitors.
The country's exhibition area will exhibit its famed handicrafts, mainly woodcarvings of African gaming boards, masks and statues, musical instruments, copper pendants, bowls and statuettes, pottery, necklace of clay beads and jewellery made of wood and seeds.
Araimi said, "Chandeliers and crystal glasses from Turkey, decoration items and traditional fabric, embroidery and costume from Vietnam, real and artificial plants and flowers and gift articles from Thailand and cosmetics from Korea will all be major attractions for shoppers.”
Products from India, Pakistan, China, Egypt and Syria, particularly fashion apparels, leather and fancy items and gift accessories and bags, will be exhibited.
A special tent will exhibit furniture from China, Egypt and Syria.
Araimi noted "The exhibition coincides with the wedding season and summer vacation in Oman."
