The aspiring designer Angelika Böhm from Lüneburg completely fulfilled the demands of the jury with her "Komodig" collection. As holder of the title "CFC YoungStar", the 28-year-old designer, who completed her degree at the JAK Academy in Hamburg three months ago, can look forward to a successful career. "I am delighted at winning this award and see this as a great start for my career as a fashion designer," stressed the newly-appointed winner after the prize-giving ceremony in Cologne.

The winner receives prize-money as well as the opportunity to present her label and the new collection at the winter edition of Children's Fashion Cologne in February 2015. Böhm submitted the designs that she produced for the final exams of her fashion design degree course. The collection comprises of various combinable motifs and diverse colours and combinations for children's clothes.

Overall, the announcement of the first CFC YoungStars Award at the summer edition of the Children's Fashion Cologne triggered off high interest among young designers. Koelnmesse received 37 entries from six countries. A jury pre-selected six finalists from all of the entries, who presented themselves and their collections during the prize-giving ceremony.

The conditions for participating in the competition were that the designs were produced for babies and children and that the designers had launched their own collections onto the market within the last three years.

Ultimately, the designs of Angelika Böhm convinced the final jury comprising of five members, who praised the overall quality of the entries: "Komodig unites sustainability with practicability for every occasion. Böhm developed a concept together with children," explained the head jury member and Luna Chief Editor, Melanie Müller. "Cheerful details such as monsters meet innovative ideas and combinability." Furthermore, a big advantage of Böhm's collection is that it holds plenty of potential for expansion.

"There is a lot of room for further development and we wish the designer a lot of success for her further career," added Müller. The designs of all of the finalists will be on display at the Children's Fashion Cologne up until Saturday.
