Lakmé Fashion Week to show four Pakistani labels

Four Pakistani fashion designers will partake in the upcoming edition of the Indian fashion fest Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014, due to be held from August 20 to 24, 2014.

Multiple-award winning designer Faiza Samee will showcase a collection inspired from the Central Asian landscapes and the old world romance of the Ottoman royal court. Enhanced with ethnic Central Asian weaves and rich Turkic motifs, the silk and velvet crafted line will be replete with rich prints and embroideries.

“My collection is produced by hand…each reflecting the passion and dedication we have towards our craft ensuring high standards of both luxury and quality,” says the designer.

Favoured by international celebrities like Jemima Khan, Cherie Blair and the late Lady Diana, designer Rizwan Beyg will pay homage to both Pakistani and global women through his Indian Madhubani painting-inspired soft feminine collection which incorporates smart and clean lines that reflect modern trends.

Drawing inspiration from Japanese landscapes, tea houses, turtles, treasure chests and Cherry Blossom trees for her bespoke luxury line Sakura, designer Sania Maskatiya will feature luxe prêt pieces decorated with a wide variety of prints, hand embroidery, textures, cuts and patterns.

The last in the Pakistani designers’ integration, organized by ‘POPxo’ and ‘Hello! Pakistan’, is Zara Shahjahan, a designer known for her luxury prêt, couture and westernwear garments. She will display a mix of vintage floral prints and traditional embellishments on western silhouettes at the event.

In addition to the aforementioned foreign names, the event’s main line-up will include designers like Masaba Gupta, Laila Singh, Arunima Majhi, Anita Dongre, Manish Malhotra and the fashion duo Shantanu and Nikhil.
