The forthcoming episode of Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW), which is slated to take place from August 28 to 30, 2014 in the capital city of Harare, is set to undergo some phenomenal changes.

The event aims to introduce multiple venues, such as the Pariah State, which will eventually help making the shows more accessible and affordable to a wider spectrum of audience and designers.

The African fashion soiree will also embrace a more inclusive guest list unlike its previous years’ editions’ restrictive guest lists, which was comprised mainly of a limited number of elites from the country.

This year’s ZFW will include more number of people and media from diverse backgrounds, including the Editor-in-chief for Bazaar Magazine, Russia, and some other fashion journalists from Europe.

In order to make the event less segmented and least exclusive, the organizers will also streamline videos of runway parades, soon after the shows, for the international community to view the featured collections.

Themed as Afrocentrica, the upcoming event will showcase creations from more than 40 local and international designers with a special focus on young labels like Humfrey Sarimu, Cynthia Tatenda Chimanda, Immaculate Kwashiri, Rutendo Maguze and Nyasha Madamombe,.

Also up and coming names like Geraldine Tseriwa, Tariro Muza, Crystelle Natasha Khan, Ashley Mapara and Pamellah Mashanda will present their creations at the soiree.

Ahead of the event, workshops on sketching, collection design, pattern making, sawing, garment embellishments and finishing will be conducted under the ZFW’s Young Designers Programme.
