Shantanu & Nikhil to flaunt Himalayan Couture line at LFW

Showcasing beauty, fluidity, grace and fierceness of the majestic Himalayas, Shantanu & Nikhil in association with Himalayan Natural Mineral Water, presented a preview of their ‘Himalayan Couture’ collection at Bungalow 9.
The ‘Live Natural’ brand positioning for Himalayan finds resonance with sensibilities of the latest collection by the designer duo. Using primarily fluid fabrics, the collection is quietly glamorous, with creative architecture & intriguing fabric cut-outs that balance a palette of greys, whites & blacks.
Talking about the collection, Shantanu/Nikhil said, “We are very excited to partner with Himalayan for the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014. The brand philosophy of ‘Live Natural’ finds resonance with the sensibilities of our current collection. The Himalayan Couture Collection is timeless, natural and distinctive. Creating a symphony with nature suffused with imagery of greys, blacks and whites, the collection is an ode to nature and the Himalayas. The contemporary lehngas, concept anarkalis and cocktail gowns aesthetically balance the sharp distinctive form of menswear, through an interesting pairing of round skirts.”
The evening also witnessed the completion of the art piece, Himalayanscape, by Brinda Miller. The painting is Brinda’s vision and representation of a pristine landscape that narrates a story about water that begins its journey from the mighty Himalayas.
The painting in abstract style is a montage of heaven, clouds, rain, earth, mountains, the forests, rocks and natural reservoirs of water.
Known for her mixed media works, Brinda Miller gave the final touches to her work of art and unveiled it at the preview. Talking about the association with Himalayan she said, “The Himalayas are, of course- one of the most iconic natural wonders of the world. Himalayanscape captures the journey of water from the source (the sky) to its eventual destination on earth. This is exactly what the brand Himalayan is all about- water drawn right from the source. I am glad to partner with the brand and look forward to displaying the piece at the Lakme Fashion Week.”
Brinda Miller’s painting will be auctioned at the Lakme Fashion Week and the proceeds from the auction will go to a charity that works in the area of conservation of the Himalayas.
