Shubhika Davda, the designer behind the fashion and accessory label Papa Don’t Preach (PDP), opened her Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 show with pieces created on a colourful bouquet of frosty blue, silver and lilac hues. Titled as Frozen, the elegant high waist ensembles, which included an array of frock jackets, trench coat dresses and tulle capes, were based in sexy, seductive and glamour silhouettes.

The young fashion label Ikai, owned by designer Ragini Ahuja, staged a very edgy shimmering catwalk presentation, entitled Metal, replete with hints of androgyny. Crafted from appliquéd sheep nappa wool, and sheer Chanderi and cotton fabrics, the ensembles were finished with marbled oxblood and gold effects.

The collection’s womenswear pieces were a short leather top, a long leather appliqué adorned printed sheath, a soft cover worn over a tube dress, a striking black mini paired with loose pants, a brown shirt, a kimono top alongside some boyfriend shirts, oversized bomber jackets, muscle tank dresses and athletic leather bustiers. The line’s sole menswear entry included a soft blouson with a bold metallic appliqué teamed with a pair of easy relaxed trousers.

Rixi Bhatia and Jayesh Sachdev, the founders of lifestyle brand Quirk Box, brought the vintage charm of Bollywood cinema and theatre back on the ramp through their latest runway range Bombay Balloon. Accentuated with colour blocking and delicate textured details, the line was made using Chanderi, crepe and georgette.

Decorated with pen drawn prints of big air balloons, rickshaws, buses, zeppelins, bulbs, boats and the iconic Gateway of India, the collection was based on a palette of mustard, burnt orange, teal blue, emerald along with metallic shades of grey, gold and black.

The featured womenswear ensembles were soft swinging blouses, flowing skirts, patch work dresses, pleated maxis, lapelled waistcoats, striped blouses, cropped tops and double-breasted jackets. The restricted menswear entry included a black waistcoat and a printed suit.
