The just wrapped up 23rd season of the Indian fashion revelry ‘Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014’ witnessed a considerable surge in domestic buyers’ registration numbers.

The event, which was attended by nearly 43 international and 215 national buyers, saw a striking season-on-season growth of about 9 percent in registration from local boutiques and shops.

Pooja Agarwal, from the Ahmadabad-based boutique Panache, explains, “I did business with a lot of designers. This season we added Yogendra Choudhary Sundari to our business. I really liked a lot of designers and observed almost 15-20% increase in investment from last year.”

“I already work with Ekru, Huemn by Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty, Mayank Anand Shraddha Nigam, who I discovered here at Lakmé Fashion Week. I want to start working with Riddhi Mehra,” she adds.

Another Indian buyer Jeena Shetty of Fabula Rasa, Mumbai, informs, “We placed orders with Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhary, Shruti Sancheti and Sraddha & Mayank. I also liked – Debashri Samanta and Sreejith Jeevan and am very keen on doing business with them.”

While explaining about his newly formed deals with local businesses, designer Yogesh Chaudhary of Surendri comments, “It is pleasure working with the team at LFW. In terms of both business and PR the season was indeed fabulous. This season we worked with leading stores that included Panache, Anahita, Fabula Rasa, Bombay Electric among others.”

Indian designer Payal Singhal also echoed the sentiments, “We always have a great experience. Lakmé Fashion Week is a great platform to market your brand, meet new buyers as well as connect with old ones for new orders. We got a great review for our collection and booked several orders during and post fashion week.”

In addition to the local buyers, global names like Atinirmal G. Pagarani, the MD of VESIMI - Yogi Group, Dubai, reveals “Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 has always been a great platform for us to connect with the best of fashion, style and trends.”

“Dubai being a global shopping hub, we are constantly seeking designers with tremendous potential and classic aesthetics and this season, we at VESIMI are back with new, brilliantly talented designers collaborating with us like Sonaakshi Raaj, Arpita Mehta, Antar Agni by Ujjawal Dubey & Neha Agarwal,” he adds.

Another Dubai-based business Si Fashion Galerie’s MD, Rajesh Sajnani, informs, “As an established buying boutique of UAE – Si Fashion Galerie – we found JADE by Monica and Karishma to be very innovative and fresh; Varun Bahl as usual outshone himself. The rest also made a very significant mark – especially the new ones on the block. Looking forward to the March 2015 LFW!”

Attended by over 12,500 visitors, the five-day event saw creations from some 86 trailblazing young talents as well as fashion design industry stalwarts. Apart from the local labels, global debutants like the Australian design duo Easton Pearson and a group of four Pakistani designers including Faiza Samee, Rizwan Beyg, Sania Maskatiya and Zara Shahjahan also highlighted their exquisite apparel designs at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014.
