The noted Indian fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani presented a grand catwalk collection showcase inspired by the artworks of the famous UK-based identical twin sisters, Amrit and Rabindra Singh, at the ongoing 24th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2015.

Held at New Delhi’s luxury shopping destination DLF Emporio, the old-meets-new range drew inspiration from the Past Modern miniature paintings of the London-based artist duo, popularly known as The Singh Twins.

Replete with Mughal aesthetics on resham fabric, classic chikankari and digital prints, the line featured various contemporary versions of sarees including the concept saree, dhoti saree and the traditional one adorned with eye-catching Persian motif incorporated borders that can form up to ten concentric layers of framing.

The range also included leggings and dresses with ombré accented borders and flowing hyper-modern silk kaftans with sleekly cut gilets in a very bohemian Indian style palette of the blue orange hues of macaw, and the reds and yellows of the rising sun.

The collection also showed an array of lightweight dhoti skirts and lungi skirts for daywear purposes as well as a glittering sequence of jewel-toned T-shirts with hand painted goldkalis for the eveningwear segment.

While speaking on Tahiliani’s new S/S range, Dinaz Madhukar, the Senior Vice President DLF Emporio says, “Tarun’s work exhibits best of both the worlds, old iconic heritage mixed with modern day aesthetic. As India's first and finest luxury destination, it gives us immense pride to partner once again in showcasing his Spring Summer’15 collection at The Pavilion, DLF Emporio as its exclusivity, space and sublime ambience makes it the perfect venue for a grand show.”

An alumnus of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, the Mumbai-born designer Tarun Tahiliani is known for his ability to infuse Indian craftsmanship and textile heritage with European tailored silhouette.

The Singh Twins’ work is a mélange of many things- their Indian and British identities, eastern and western aesthetics, the personal and the political, social commentary with tongue in cheek humour. The highly decorated artists have been awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire) and shown in the Smithsonian, the Musée Des Beaux Arts, the NGMA, and the National Portrait Gallery, London among others.
