Cashmere World sees steady flow of global buyers

Cashmere World closed its doors on September 27, with a steady flow of global buyers, who kept exhibitors on their toes. More importantly, it was the professional quality of the buyers that lent credibility to the trade fair which was held in Hong Kong.

In the relaxed, business oriented atmosphere of the HKCEC, held alongside Fashion Access, Asia’s leading fashion accessories event, exhibitors discussed their products, business objectives, while buyers enthusiastically lapped up all that was on offer at the trade fair.

The mix of exhibitors was international and reflected the main cashmere producing nations of the world – Afghanistan, China and Mongolia as well as other participants from India and Indonesia.

Present for the first time at Cashmere World was the Thailand Textile Institute that was promoting a combined silk and cashmere project funded by the Thai Royal Family.

The objective is to reinvigorate the Thai silk industry by combining silk with cashmere imported from Mongolia to create exclusively designed and luxury garments.

The Director of the institute, Dr. Chanchai Sirikasemlert informed that most of the promotion for this project till date, had been carried out in Thailand only and Cashmere World was the only global business platform, where it has been presented.

Organisers of Cashmere World say it is only the exclusive nature of the trade fair, which attracts buyers and designers. Citing an example, they say Vivian Chang of Crush Collection in China came looking for design and colours, as well as seeking suppliers to manufacture her designer garments.

The next edition of Cashmere World will be held from 7- 9 October, 2015 at the same venue, accompanied by the Cashmere World Forum. (AR)
