Retro era inspires Tokyo Fashion Week day three designers

The Japanese fashion brand Haori de TiTi showcased a 1940-esque Spring/Summer 2015 collection, created by the label designer Tazuko Yamaki, on the third day of ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo.
Replete with an array of frilly, embellished, chic and feminine outfits, the line’s standouts include a gold leaves decorated ivory dress, clean cut circle skirts with handkerchief hemlines, and lace crafted trench coats with belts as well as jackets.
The 1997 British/Canadian movie The Hanging Garden played as source of inspiration for the Taiwan-born, London’s Central Saint Martins’ alumnus Johan Ku’s latest catwalk presentation. Incorporated with the famous Swinging Sixties’ vibes of London, the leather heavy range for men and women was adorned with flowery embellishments like floral motifs and twisted fabric roses. The featured pieces were babydoll dresses, loose fit pants and pleated dresses.
Japan’s Bunka Fashion College grad Yumi Koshino infused several retro-styled elements in her new S/S range which included colourful wrap scarves, 1970’s inspired knitwear ensembles, 1980’s sportswear looks inspired apparels and flashy 1990’s style printed garments.
The Tokyo-based designer Yukiko Hanai put up an interesting fashion show with light summery outfits made mainly from lace and broderie anglaise materials. Enhanced with hand-drawn prints, the classic separates heavy line was based on a neutral colour palette along with specks of pastel blue and chartreuse tones. (PB)
