For the first time since its inception, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid is hosting an exclusive fashion centric exhibit highlighting the works of French aristocrat and fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy.
Slated to run through January 18, 2014, the retrospective display which has been named after the designer himself offers an up and close insight into some of his finest creations created over a period of some 50 years, starting from the founding of Maison Givenchy in Paris in 1952 to the octogenarian design maestro’s retirement in 1996.For the first time since its inception, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid is hosting an exclusive fashion centric exhibit highlighting the works#
Curated by the 87-year-old fashion veteran himself, the exhibits include pieces worn by the iconic personalities like Jacqueline Kennedy, the Duchess of Windsor, Caroline of Monaco and the British actress Audrey Hepburn.
The major attractions of the display include a 1961 black satin sheath evening dress from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and a black lace cocktail dress and jacket worn in the film How to Steal a Million.
Also the Bettina blouse and sack dress alongside his widely appreciated prêt-à-porter designs, a concept which the designer invented in 1954 are put up on display along with a group of artworks of different periods and styles from the museum’s collections. (PB)
