Hot Topic creates line with Joan Jett and TRIPP NYC

To mark its 25th anniversary, the American-based music and pop culture inspired clothing retailer Hot Topic has joined forces with the rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Joan Jett and the rock fashion specialist TRIPP NYC’s designer Daang Goodman to launch an exclusive collection of rocker fashion basics.
Inspired from the 56-year-old musician’s signature style, music, lyrics and attitude and TRIPP NYC’s trademark downtown New York City street styles, the 8-piece range featuring a label with lightning bolts inside a heart is made using vegan leather, metal embellishments and lace.
Slated to be available from November 4, 2014 onwards, the line includes two black twill skinny jeans with pleather insets, lace-up hems and metal zippers, and two belted moto jackets with lace sleeves in red and black hues.
The Joan Jett X TRIPP NYC Fashion Collection for Hot Topic also features a twill fitted vest with lace-up sides, a pleather fitted jacket, a black asymmetrical tank with pleather and lace details, and a black and red destructed heart adorned sweater.
While speaking about the new collection, Cindy Levitt, the Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Hot Topic states, “Early on in our history, Hot Topic became known as a destination for alternative rocker fashion. So, for our 25th anniversary, we wanted to create a collection to celebrate that, and our love for rock music. We thought Joan Jett and our longtime partner TRIPP NYC were perfect to help make a great collection happen.”
Jett expressed her delight on the collaborative venture, “Working with Daang and TRIPP NYC was effortless, as we approached this collection from the same fashion sensibility and DIY spirit. I'm blown away by how the collection turned out – these clothes are some of my favorite new additions to my closet.”
Goodman also echoed the sentiments “When I finally met Joan, I felt as if I’d known her forever, and was so excited to be working with her. I’ve been designing for a girl like Joan all of my life! And I know the Hot Topic girl is going to love it!”

Started sometime in the early 1980s, TRIPP NYC is known for setting fashion trends both on the stage and on the street with its designs influenced by the underground rock and roll scene.
Joan Jett was named in the Rolling Stone greatest 100 guitarists of all time at number 87. She was also inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in October 2006. (PB)
