New and seasoned names at Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014

The crème-de-la-crème of the Pakistani fashion industry along with a bevy of some immensely talented young designers showcased their latest creations at the just held edition of Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn Winter 2014.
Clothing brand Ather Ali Hafeez for Sana Safinaz drew inspiration from the 1970’s bohemian and beach culture for its new chic resortwear presentation. Replete with bold patterns and bright and earthy shaded mix-and-match prints, the retro style catwalk range included embroidered capes, one-shouldered tops and short long sleeve dresses in fit and flare silhouettes.
Byobu, the Japanese folding screens made from several joined panels bearing decorative painting and calligraphy, inspired designer Shehla Chatoor’s collection with the same title Byo´bu. Predominantly based on tones of black, cream, beige and gold, the line included sarees teamed up with single-sleeved texture bodices, long figure hugging gowns with side slits and embellished full skirts.
The vivid morning hues played as source of inspiration for the up and coming talent Ishtiaq Afzal Khan’s menswear and womenswear line, Aurora. Incorporated with geometrical and circular stitch patterns, the leather heavy collection showed short dresses with long sleeves, sarees, peplums and skinny pants in tones of pastel green, beige and midnight blue.
The designer duo Deepak and Fahad displayed a monochrome based range entitled Siyah Sufaid for men and women. Decorated with stripes and intricately crafted patterns, the featured pieces were flowing strapless gowns, capes and jackets.
Ayesha Farooq Hashwani highlighted a rich, opulent baroque-inspired line. Enhanced with smart cuts and black coloured metallic work embellishments on deep red and pristine white backgrounds, the classic range featured capes, jackets, pants and shrugs. (PB)
