Commenting on the new finalists, Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design for New Development, states, “As a design-driven company, it is an honour for H&M to be able to support fashion’s future talents. The level of creativity, passion and technical skills we’ve seen for this year’s H&M Design Award is exceptional.”

The finalists include the Polish-born, Geneva University of Art and Design grad Magdalena Brozda who will showcase a line based on positive and celebratory ideas of death and the Swedish School of Textiles graduate Andreas Eklofs (who will feature his taping incorporated outdoorwear).

London’s Central Saint Martins’ alumnus Graham Fan will feature hand-woven complex textile crafted pieces in minimalist silhouettes. New York’s Parsons’ student Andrea Jiapeili will show the antithesis of her aesthetics through her pieces.

The other finalists include Hong Kong’s Ximon Lee (collection inspired from the documentary film Children of Leningradsky) and Ireland’s Fiona O’Neill (line drew inspiration from women painting pictures of other women).
