The Indonesian Batik specialist Danar Hadi has collaborated with two home-grown design talents ‘Chossy Latu’ and ‘Priyo Oktaviano’ to create a sophisticated collection of ready-to-wear clothes.

Part of the brand’s high-end line, Danar by Danar Hadi, the range is made using silk fabrics printed with tropical batik motifs and patterns.

Replete with dailywear as well as occasionwear pieces, the designer Latu’s black and white heavy range is enhanced with the traditional four-lobed stylized flower motif kawung, the zig-zag pattern Parang and flower bouquets.

Meant for tropical climates, the collection standouts include shift dresses, long blazers, loose-fit frocks with big white floral motifs, long-sleeve dresses with high collars, Sabrina batik blouses and jumpsuits paired with pearl-encrusted 1950’s style hats and sequined jacket, skirts and pants.

The designer Priyo Oktaviano’s colorful designs include a flaming red fitted dress with spider web like lines, knee-length frocks with Chinese cheongsam-style sequined embellished necklines, orange chiffon skirts teamed with double motif blouses and a range of elegant dresses, tops and skirts in brown, black and off-white hues.

Danar Hadi sells batik fabrics through a network of domestic retail shops and established up-market department stores including well-known foreign retailers such as Sogo, Seibu and Seiyu. The company’s key brands are DanarHadi, Danar by Danar Hadi and Danar Hadi for Kids. (PB)
