The American athleticwear specialist Nike has collaborated with Berlin based fashion designer Johanna Schneider to launch a new line of women’s training apparel that aims to facilitate the movement of the wearer.

Made using the brand’s signature performance materials such as Dri-FIT, the range features an array of layered clothing ideal for different stages of a workout including the transitional periods of warm-up and cool-down.

Speaking about the line, the sportswear designer says, “All garments of the collection are built to move and interact with the female body in motion. I wanted to build a sophisticated selection that looks pleasant against different skin tones.”

Jamie Lee, Nike design director for Global Women’s Training and the new NikeLab x JFS collection co-creator, said, “Today’s female athlete needs full versatility. This collection is about building her workout wardrobe but also making it functional for her day-to-day life.”

Slated to be available from February 26, 2015 at NikeLab online and brick-and-mortar stores as well as select retailers globally, the line includes a long sleeve crop top with an ergonomic fit and a zipped mock neck. The cool-touch cotton jersey features sleeve thumbholes and a mesh gusset insert for easy movement and breathability.

Replete with a full and circular leg and asymmetrical hem, the culottes are fit to be worn to a dance or studio class. The mesh-lined shorts can be worn either over tights or on their own. The stretch-woven fabric made piece features high side slits and a laser-cut pattern for increased breathability.

The range also features a sleeveless cape with three different wear options- open, cinched closed or tied around the hips as warm-up skirt. The line’s hand-painted bra and tights are designed to highlight key muscle zone interaction during exercise.

NikeLab x JFS Studio Wrap Pack 3 offers freedom of movement and a flexible, barefoot-like experience for people who practise yoga, barre or Pilates. The lightweight stretch foam and mesh top layer criss-crosses over the foot and wraps around the arch and under the heel for added support. A flat slips over the wrap for studio-to-street protection, featuring custom artwork by Schneider. Hexagonal flex grooves allow for multidirectional support and an anatomically shaped outsole optimises traction without compromising flexibility. (PB)
