Turkish Iznik pottery inspires Pankaj and Nidhi's LFW line

Bollywood celebrity-favoured Indian designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi took inspiration from the traditional Iznik pottery of Turkey for their latest Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015’s catwalk presentation.
Known for their exquisite craftsmanship and cultural symbolism inspired designs, the talented pair enhanced their new creations with multi-coloured fractal images and Op-Art patterns, thereby blending tradition with modern innovation.
Made using flat silk chiffon, textured organza, Dupion as well as double jersey fabrics, the western silhouettes based pieces were adorned with specially engineered prints and intricate appliqués.
Using tones of black and white as basic hues topped with pastel shades of mint, coral and grey, the practical, wearable and ideal for all ages and sizes range was accented with laser cut detailing.
Key highlights of the collection included sharply cut shift dresses, edgy cropped tops, stylish jumpsuits, easy comfy maxis with tantalising slits, tops with long tails, pure white shorts, body suits, shirt waister dresses, long sleeved column gowns with low-cut backs, plain shifts with dolman sleeves and empire line numbers.
The presentation also highlighted a yellow lacy long sleeve cropped top paired with shorts and an off shoulder yellow sheath, a melon sack dress, a white long shirt with tonal embellishments, a bat sleeve white top, and an asymmetrical cape worn with white cropped pants and a bandeau top. (PB)
