More than 31 catwalk shows, featuring exquisite arrays of new Autumn-Winter 2015/16 collections, were staged at the recently concluded 36th edition of Portugal Fashion, which took place over a period of four days in two different cities- Porto and Lisbon.

Themed as Reflector, the Portuguese event celebrated its 20th anniversary with creations highlighting vivid shapes, textures and colours from established names like Anabela Baldaque, Alves/Gonçalves, Carlos Gil, Fátima Lopes, Júlio Torcato, Luís Onofre, Miguel Vieira, Nuno Baltazar, Pedro Pedro and Katty Xiomara.

Well-known brand Storytailors opened the soiree with a collection inspired by folk tales. Enhanced with exaggerated styles, the show featured wool, cotton, tulle and neoprene made pieces, including some voluminous designs replete with mysterious hoods, in a palette of red, fuchsia and yellow.

Luís Buchinho’s range titled Comic took inspiration from the designer’s passion for comic books and his past career in illustration and graphic design. Based on structured lines in shades of blue, red and caramel, the wool, mohair, leather, silk, cotton and jacquard crafted pieces were adorned with white blocks, geometric patterns and multiple stripes.

Daniela Barros launched her women’s collection ‘NKA_002 at the event. A mix of unstructured and oversized lines, the masculine looks inspired ensembles were made using wool, silk, fish leather and tech fabrics in neutral colours punctuated with black, white and sandy shades.

In addition to the aforementioned names, collections by six young designers including Carla Pontes, Mafalda Fonseca, João Melo Costa, Pedro Neto, Eduardo Amorim and Teresa Abrunhosa alongside four new brands such as Hibu, Klar, Align with Kay, and Atelier Ctrl were unveiled at the event’s young designers’ platform Bloom.
