Ethical Fashion Show Berlin kicks off from July 8

The Ethical Fashion Show Berlin which runs from July 8-10, 2015, will feature for the first time a catwalk show ‘Ethical Fashion on Stage’, which will present selected street and casualwear on the runway.
“With this move, we are giving the event another highlight, alongside our famous Salonshow, which features high fashion from Greenshowroom,” Olaf Schmidt, vice president for textiles at Messe Frankfurt said.
“We expect an exciting selection of contemporary eco-fashion by international designers,” Schmidt added.
“In addition to this, both Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin provide first-class opportunities for information gathering and networking,” he informed.
“With the extensive program lasting for three days, the two shows give sustainable fashion a strong presence during Berlin Fashion Week,” a press release from the organiser Messe Frankfurt said.
Christian Adelsberger, head of purchasing at Kastner & Öhler will kick-start the shows with a talk about the current role of eco-fashion in the retail industry at 10 AM on July 8.
Together with Olaf Schmidt, Christian Adelsberger will officially open the shows at Berlin’s Postbahnhof.
The traditional highlight will take place at 4 PM on July 9, when selected exhibitors will present approximately 70 outfits from their 2016 summer collections during the ‘Salonshow’ event.
“The eagerly awaited new catwalk show, ‘Ethical Fashion on Stage’ will follow at 6 PM, also at the Postbahnhof club, where designers will showcase around 50 outfits,” Messe Frankfurt added.
The panel discussion starting at 11 AM on July 10 as part of the ‘Create Green Breakfast’ will be devoted to vegan fashion.
Marion Kracht from Lana, Julia Akra-Laurien from Noveaux magazine, Holger Brodkorb from Ragwear, Blogger Hendrik Haase and moderator Stefanie Hütz, a freelance journalist will talk about animal free fashion.
They will discuss issues including the extent to which the terms ‘vegan’ and ‘sustainable’ overlap or are distinct from one another. (AR)
