Charming Shoppes' retail store brands perk up 8% for five weeks ended July 2

Multi-channel specialty women's plus-size apparel retailer Charming Shoppes Inc reported that total sales for the five weeks ended July 2, 2005 were $285,900,000, an increase of 22% compared to $233,400,000 for the five weeks ended July 3, 2004.
The current period's total sales include sales from Crosstown Traders Inc since its acquisition on June 2, 2005.
Charming Shoppes achieved record sales for the month of June from its retail store brands, exclusive of the sales from Crosstown Traders. Comparable store sales for Charming Shoppes' retail store brands increased 8% for the five weeks ended July 2, 2005.
Total sales for the twenty-two weeks ended July 2, 2005 increased 6% to $1,094,700,000 from $1,031,800,000 for the twenty-two weeks ended July 3, 2004.
Comparable store sales for Charming Shoppes' retail store brands increased 1% for the twenty-two weeks ended July 2, 2005.
In a separate release today, Charming Shoppes announced an upward revision to earnings projections for the current fiscal quarter ending July 30, 2005 and the fiscal year ending January 28, 2006, and a change to its sales reporting schedule, beginning with next year's first fiscal quarter.
Charming Shoppes Inc operates 2,235 stores in 48 states under the names LANE BRYANT, FASHION BUG, FASHION BUG PLUS, and CATHERINES PLUS SIZES.
Additionally, the following apparel, accessories, footwear and gift catalogs are operated by Charming Shoppes'Crosstown Traders: Old Pueblo Traders, Bedford Fair, Willow Ridge, Lew Magram, Brownstone Studio, Regalia, Intimate Appeal, Monterey Bay Clothing Company, Coward Shoe and Figi's. During the twenty-two weeks ended July 2, 2005 the Company opened 24, relocated 29, and closed 10 stores.
