Legwear maker Kayser-Roth to invest $7mn for expansion

Branded, licensed and private label legwear and apparel maker Kayser-Roth Corporation has announced a 7 million dollar expansion to its sock manufacturing and distribution facility located in Burlington, NC.
The expansion is expected to add as many as 180 jobs over a three-year period and will require a 100,000 sq. foot plant addition adjacent to the existing knitting and finishing facility.
The expansion is part of continuing investment program supported by Golden Lady Company, Kayser-Roth's parent company, and is consistent with the long-term vision of its principal owner, Nerino Grassi.
North Carolina's Director of Business Retention & Expansion, Eugene Byrd, attended the announcement at the Alamance County facility to express his pleasure in seeing a North Carolina textile manufacturer make a commitment to not only remain in the state, but to also expand its business here.
In discussing the expansion, Kevin Toomey, President and CEO of Kayser- Roth said, "A major component of Kayser-Roth's vision is to sustain and create jobs to support a 'Made in America' philosophy. Our ability to fulfill customer needs promptly is facilitated by domestic manufacturing. Kayser- Roth's vision encompasses the best of both worlds - domestic production in its facilities that have the most advanced equipment in the world and the development of strong relationships with overseas producers for specialized products not made domestically."
