Sheikh Salim Al Maskri, General Secretary, Council for Higher Education, opened a contemporary jewellery exhibition called 'The Alchemy' on February 13, 2007 at the Bait Al Zubair museum.
Eight designers from UK, namely Naomi Filmer, Shaun Leane, Laura Potter, Andrew Lamb, Scott Wilson, Lina Peterson, Solange Azagury-Patridge and Tanvi Kant, have created the jewellery pieces.
A crocheted brooch designed by Lina Peterson is on display, which is rough yet elegant. It was created using gold plated silver and crocheted wool.
British Ambassador Noel Guckian and Mohammed bin Al Zubair, Founder of Bait Al Zubair, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Expo offers an insight into the perspectives of modern jewellery trends. Designers ranging from fresh graduates to the who's who of fashion and jewellery take part in The Alchemy.
