Woolly wonder to woo fashionistas!

Come winter and fashion houses will baffle you with their range of knitwear. Gone are the days when you just had a drab pullover and a simple sweater to choose from every time you had a date.

Peep into a boutique and you'll find stacks of trendy knitwear like bat-sleeve knits, long-line vests, woven pashminas and woollen scarves, enough to give you a tough time picking out the best.

To top it all, there's enough fashion literature available that instructs you on which woolly piece can be best paired with another to accentuate your bodyline.

You can begin, for example, by pairing a knitted vest with pinstripe slimline trousers or invest in a softly tailored knit skirt suit that will take you from work to evening. Even knit tops and full-length dresses with a stylish waist belt can make you look hot in winter.

Lifestyle label Meredith's new collection of woollen wardrobe is available in shades of green, cream and blue. Fabrics such as kid mohair, alpaca yarns, merino wools and silk velvets are used to create an exquisite range.

Australian label woolliwoolli has also jumped on the knitwear bandwagon with designer Josephine Nathan's merino wool creations.

Men are not far behind in the knitwear explosion. Patons Australia's design team has come out with Jet Mens Book 1266, a collection of 20 hand-knitting styles for boys, including those of turtlenecks.
