Jeans exports up 51% for 1st half 2005

According to data posted by the Turkish Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (ITKIB), jeans exports rise 40 percent in the first six weeks of 2004, the figure increased to 51 percent to $705,302,000 for the first half of 2005.

Germany and Britain were the two top most ranking countries that Turkey exported jeans. Turkey also exports jeans to the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Russia and the US.

The Denim Manufacturers Association's (DENIMDER) Chairman, Nedim Ozbek informed that 61 percent of the jeans worn in the whole world is manufactured in Turkey and said the denim sector reached at a global platform in quality and brand, determining that the producers use the highest technology out there.

Ozbek added that the country exported jeans costing $1,060,000,000 at the end of 2004 and targets to touch $1.5 billion for 2005.

The Turkish denim sector is a leader in jeans exports in the world. Turkey is exporting its own brands like Mavi Jeans, Little Big, Collins, Loft and Cross Jeans to world markets. It even sells jean to the jeans' motherland, the US.
