Payless ShoeSource to contribute Hurricane Katrina relief

New York City based largest family footwear retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc announced that it would make an immediate $100,000 donation of cash and gift cards to the American Red Cross in support of the relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
The donation of cash is intended to support the general relief efforts of the American Red Cross. The gift cards will allow affected residents to shop at the Payless stores that remain in operation in many impacted areas for much-needed shoes, construction boots, and socks.
"Like people all across the nation and around the world, Payless are deeply concerned for the many people affected by Hurricane Katrina," said Matt Rubel, Chief Executive Officer, Payless ShoeSource. "This was a tragic natural disaster, and we know there is a lot of work ahead to rebuild the affected areas. Company hope the Payless donation of cash and gift cards will assist families as they rebuild their lives and their communities."
