Accessory retailer Wet Seal net sales grow 14.8%

Fashionable & contemporary apparel & accessory retailer The Wet Seal Inc reported the net sales for the four-week period ended August 27, 2005 of $45.4 million, compared with net sales of $39.6 million for the same period last year, an increase of 14.8 percent.

Comparable store sales increased 48.3 percent for the four-week period ended August 27, 2005, compared with a decline of 14.8 percent for the same period a year ago.

Net sales for the 30-week period ended August 27, 2005 were $275.5 million, compared with net sales of $245.1 million for the same period last year, a 12.4 percent increase. Comparable store sales increased 44.5 percent for the 30-week period ended August 27, 2005, compared with a decline of 14.2 percent for the same period a year ago.

Mr. Joel Waller, Chief Executive Officer of the Wet Seal Inc commented: "the strong sales momentum continued as they near the end of the 'Back To School' selling season, representing the eighth consecutive month of comparable store sales growth since implementing company new merchandising strategy for the Wet Seal business. They achieved the strong comparable store sales performance despite aggressive weekend promotional events in Wet Seal division last year."

During the four-week period ended August 27, 2005, the Company had no store openings or closures. At August 27, 2005, the Company operated 305 Wet Seal stores and 91 Arden B. stores.
