Dress Barn offers job relocation for hurricane affected employees

Leading retailer of fashion apparel Dress Barn Inc announced that although stores in the path of hurricane Katrina have been devastated, the income stream of its Associates working at those locations remains intact as jobs are waiting for them at other Dress Barn locations if desired. The company, which employs close to 100 people in The Greater New Orleans Area and Gulfport, had approximately nine stores damaged, some beyond repair, due to the hurricane.

As part of its ongoing relief efforts which include a recent donation of $3 million worth of apparel to victims, all Associates who were forced to relocate are guaranteed positions in other Dress Barn stores around the country during this crisis period. Dress Barn has also communicated to all of its Associates impacted by the hurricane and unable to work in another store that benefits have been extended and that they will have access to services to help them to find food, shelter and clothing.

As Associates were forced to evacuate, Dress Barn helped them to find places to stay, food and clothing and jobs in other stores. The store manger from New Orleans, who relocated to the Dallas, Texas area with the help of Dress Barn, was immediately offered a position at a local store. Even though her home is underwater and some friends and family are still reported missing, she is thankful for her "new home away from home."

The goodwill efforts have spread throughout the organization and Dress Barn and maurices Associates across the nation have established a special Associate Fund to collect donations for their colleagues in distress.
