Organised by CMP Asia, the first Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair, which took place from January 10 to 13, 2008 at The Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Centre at The Venetian Macao, was a big success. It is the first-ever international trade fair for the jewellery industry at the beginning of the year in Macau.
At this debut event, 517 companies from 24 countries and regions exhibited a wide range of jewellery products. There were over 900 booths, occupying over 19,400 square metres of exhibition space.
Antwerp from Belgium, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the United States staged prominent group pavilions at the fair. A total of 6,617 trade buyers from 59 countries and regions was recorded. Among all visitors, 53 percent were from outside Macau and Hong Kong.
"Both exhibitors and visitors agreed that the Fair provides new business opportunities for them. The concept of bringing business and entertainment together in one stop in Macau, Asia's Las Vegas, enhances the business mood and brings more business opportunities for participants at the Fair," said Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs, CMP Asia.
The Fair is supported by Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and Macau Government Tourist Office. The next event will be held from January 8 to 11, 2009 at the same venue.
