Panglobal Nela brand dresses to create a buzz

Hoping to capture a piece of the surging dress market, up 40% last year, Panglobal Brands Inc is set to launch their newest label, Nela. Head designer Hellen Yuan, previously with Rozae Nichols and Linda Loudermilk, has used original graphics and Italian floral patterns in the debut collection.

The majority of the initial 25 styles are printed on natural fabrics such as silk chiffon, cotton silk voile, crepe de chine and cotton silk sateen. Each print is unique to a particular style of dress.

The Nela dresses commence shipping in February to approximately 80 upscale women's boutiques in the United States and to boutiques in three foreign countries in time to be shown in the stores for spring. Future collections will expand the line to include skirts and sportswear, including knitted tops, sweaters and blouses.

Nela products are sold through independent sales agents having showrooms in Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta and through the company's own in-house sales team and showroom in New York. Nela products will be shown at the major industry trade events including Atlanta Apparel Mart (January 26-29); Trafik (February 3-5); San Francisco LACA (February 4-5); Coterie in New York (February 10-12); and Project in Las Vegas (February 12-14).

Head designer Yuan feels that women are switching to dresses because they want to dress up. “Dresses make women feel feminine and sexy,” says Yuan who sees the Nela line as sophisticated and flirty.
