Le Château donates $100K to support fashion

Leading Canadian fashion specialty retailer Le Château Inc is strengthening its educational ties with an unprecedented donation of $100,000 to support Toronto's School of Fashion at Ryerson University. The Le Château Inc Student Enrichment Fund will provide the monies necessary to support various initiatives, which will add significant value to the lives of Ryerson's fashion students.
"Over the past nine years, they have expanded Le Château's design and marketing team with over twenty graduates from Ryerson University, seventeen of whom are still with the company in major positions," says Herschel Segal, Founder and CEO of Le Château. "The Le Château Enrichment Fund will provide necessary support for the students and fund future generations of students who will ultimately join the fashion industry and contribute to its continued vitality and strength."
Le Château's generous commitment of $100,000 will be granted to Ryerson University's School of Fashion over a period of the next five years, divided into installments of $20,000 each year. Part of this amount will be used to support a new Le Château Inc Lecture, which will feature a visionary leader of the fashion industry.
The lectures will focus on issues relating to the culture of fashion and topics of interest and concern to students of fashion and to the broader fashion community including design, publication, exhibition, globalization, manufacturing and ethical sourcing. The remaining amount will be used towards six scholarships each year, three for Fashion Design students and three for Fashion Communication students studying in the School of Fashion.
