Cato January sales slightly better than recent trends

The Company's fourth quarter includes 13 weeks compared to 14 weeks in 2006 and the fiscal year includes 52 weeks compared to 53 weeks in 2006.
The Company will release fourth quarter and fiscal year 2007 earnings on Thursday, March 20, 2008.
During January, the Company opened four new stores including stores in Birmingham, AL, Cottonwood, AZ, Charlotte, NC, and Tomball, TX.
During the fourth quarter, the Company opened 13 stores, relocated two stores, and closed 16 stores. For the fiscal year ended February 2, 2008, the Company opened 62 stores, relocated 18 stores and closed 20 stores. As of February 2, 2008, the Company operated 1,318 stores in 32 states, compared to 1,276 stores in 31 states as of February 3, 2007.
