'IT Enabled Leather Sector' – a great success for FDDI

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) organized a seminar on “IT Enabled Leather Sector” on 1st February 2008 at 10:15 a.m. at the Seminar Hall, Chennai Trade Center during the 23rd India International Leather Fair (IILF-2008).

According to Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI,“The seminar was an attempt for the technological preparedness to meet the future requirement of the leather industry as far as the use of Hi-technology IT enabled services are concerned & with the use of these Hi-technology IT enabled services, the industry can definitely grow bigger and achieve much more than the targeted export turnover of nearly US $7 billion by 2010.”
FDDI had invited eminent business professionals for deliberations from various major IT companies who were already having immense experience in developing business solutions.
“FDDI is also opening four branches in different parts of the country such as Fursatganj, Rae Bareli.” Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI.
During the seminar presentations were made on CE Marking by Dr. G. Nickolaus, Managing Director, PFI, Germany, Lean Manufacturing Systems by SAP, Performance Management System by COGNOS, E-Commerce by IBM, Future Directions in Information Technology - for the Industry by ORACLE.
The seminar provided a forum for the leather and footwear enterprises to know about the ever-increasing role of information technology in the age of cutthroat competition.
