Designer! Stop using fur - PETA

09 Feb '08
1 min read

Wearing Donna Karan masks and jumpsuits labeled "DKNY," two PETA members will repeatedly bludgeon "bloodied" stuffed toy rabbits outside fur-fiend designer Donna Karan's show during New York's Fashion Week on Friday.

Other PETA members will hold signs that read, "Donna Karan: Bunny Butcher," and hand out leaflets that graphically describe what happens to animals who are killed for their skins. Why is PETA picking on Karan? Because she has repeatedly broken her promises to stop using fur in her designs.

Date: Friday, February 8
Time: 2-3 p.m.
Place: 711 Greenwich St. (on the corner of Charles and Greenwich streets)

For every piece of fur, animals in the wild are trapped, drowned, or beaten to death. On fur farms, they are killed by gassing, electrocution, or neck-breaking--sometimes they are even skinned alive.

Many top fashion designers--including Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger--are 100 percent fur-free.
