Dick's Sporting Goods Inc and Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, have come to terms on a multi-year sponsorship agreement, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross.
"We are quite pleased to have the largest sporting goods retailer in the U.S., Dick's Sporting Goods, on board as an Official Partner of this league," said Gross. "We are also happy to have them join our national broadcasts on ESPN2 as presenting sponsor of the helmet cam."
The use of helmet cams was one of many new features incorporated into the MLL Game of the Week broadcasts on ESPN2 last season. Other features included the use of telestrators and placing microphones on several players during each game. Starting in 2007, all MLL games on ESPN2 games were broadcast in high- definition for the first time.
In additional to their involvement with the ESPN2 broadcasts, Dick's will become the uniform sponsor of the Denver Outlaws, receiving logo placement on Denver's uniform jersey and shorts. Dick's will also receive signage boards at each MLL venue.
As an Official Partner of Major League Lacrosse, Dick's receives the rights to use the MLL and team logos, as well as MLL and team wordmarks in promotional and marketing purposes.
"The sport of lacrosse has grown tremendously throughout the country over the last several years and Dick's Sporting Goods is thrilled to now be a part of that growth through our sponsorship of MajorLeague Lacrosse and the national TV coverage on ESPN2," said Jeffrey R. Hennion, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Dick's Sporting Goods.
