Not-for-profit trade association Jewelers Vigiliance Committee (JVC) and the Jewelers Board Of Trade (JBT) are going to participate anti-money laundering (AML) seminar to Rhode Island Jewelers.

The topics include who gas to comply, developing an effective AML Program, and JVC and JBT products and services to help jewelers meet AML requirements.

To help jewelry businesses understand if they have to comply with recent anti-money laundering (AML) requirements, Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) and The Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT) are co-presenting "How to Comply with Anti-Money Laundering Regulations" on Thursday, September 22, 10 AM - 12 noon, JBT headquarters, 95 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, Rhode Island.

Cecilia L. Gardner, JVC's President and CEO and Dione D. Kenyon, JBT's president, will explain how the JVC and JBT trade associations can help jewelry businesses comply with AML requirements finalized by Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Steve Crogan, Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Department of Homeland Security/ICE/Anti-Money Laundering Unit - New England Region, will also participate. January 1, 2006 is the deadline to come into compliance. The seminar is free to attend but space is limited.

Said Cecilia L. Gardner, JVC's president and CEO said that now is the time for the jewelry industry to comply with these new rules. This seminar will help jewelers see how easy it can be to develop AML programs using JVC's USA PATRIOT Act Compliance Kit (PACK). As a former federal AML prosecutor, he is familiar with the types of documents and content FinCEN and US Treasury will be looking for in jewelers' AML plans.

JVC's PACK includes easy-to-use templates and forms that can be customized for individual AML programs. And I encourage PACK owners and JVC members who have AML questions to use Ask the AML Expert, JVC's Web-based service to ask me specific AML questions.
