Poya Eghterafi, Managing Partner, Egma Lens, distributors for Rodenstock said: “It's the first time we've seen a fashion show at an optical exhibition anywhere in the world, and it provided a fresh new breeze for the whole event.

The feedback we've had has been very encouraging, and this will probably be the most successful Vision-X Dubai that Egma Lens has participated in.” Al-Nakheel Optical, one of Abu Dhabi's leading groups, also found the focus on the 2008 event to be highly beneficial.

“We looked to cement our relationship with our existing customers at Vision-X Dubai and open new markets if possible. This event has provided an important boost to our business and provided an important networking opportunity,” said Mohammed Al-Shibibi of Al-Nakheel Optical.

For healthcare specialists, the dedicated Vision-X Dubai Conference co-organised by DWTC and the Emirates Medical Association Ophthalmic Society (EMAOS) provided an important opportunity to examine the challenges facing Optometrists in the Middle East.

Dr. Manal Taryam, Specialist - Dubai Hospital and President of EMAOS, commented: “There is a real need within the market for greater continuing medical education for optometrists, both to encourage specialists to better understand complex conditions, and also to ensure there are sufficient numbers of qualified professionals entering the field.”

A major focus on the Conference was the future direction of Optometry, and in particular the challenges facing the region as both the population and the number of eyesight-related issues increases.

All attendees at the conference were accredited with a 'Certificate of Continuing Medical Education'. Senior executives from organiser DWTC expressed satisfaction at the positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors.

“The distinct industry focus of Vision-X Dubai 2008 has enabled us to exceed the expectations of our clients, offering them an ideal platform to develop new business and discuss new medical and technological breakthroughs.

Responses to the new initiatives like the fashion shows and medical dialogues have been very positive, and we will look to extend their impact next year,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.
