Heavily embellished sheath dresses show Vikram's passion

Making an important opening statement with a cause, Vikram Phadnis brought to the ramp an awareness for us to sit up and take notice of our environment.

Structured artificial headgears worn by the models and the opening and closing dance drama took us to another world of creative interpretation with regard to the most discussed topic of the world around us.

A colour palette ranging from muted shades of the sky, spice tones of the earth and to the aqua hues from the bed of the ocean, encompassing all nature.

Vikram Phadnis displayed fluid and flattering ensembles with accentuated waistlines and empire lines. Silhouettes were contemporary classic with fluid skirts combined with structured jackets and tops. Significant for this programme was a range of heavily embellished sheath dresses worn over tight-fitted mélange knitted jersey tops.

Inspired by nature to remind us of good and bad, there was balanced play of blacks with off-whites highlighted with subdued metallic embroideries.

The collection showed a range of decorative floral elements such as embroidered patterns or motifs which were taken from renaissance tapestries.

Many outfits were coordinated with oversized shopper bags which often showed a handcrafted aspect in reminiscence to his theme.

The designer again left a lasting impact with a promising future oriented collection for the coming Autumn/Winter 2008/09.
