Acclaimed designer Cho Cheng has been named one of China's top five designers by Modern Weekly a national Chinese luxury and lifestyle magazine.
Cited as "the new master of red carpet glamour" Cheng shares this illustrious recognition with fellow native sons Derek Lam, Peter Som, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim.
"It is an honor to be recognized as a master of glamour and couture," said Cheng who plans to aggressively expand his design house by opening five stores in China by the end of this year as well as an atelier in the States.
"This distinction places me among the world's design elite and I look forward to continuing to communicate my signature design aesthetic on an international level."
Cho Cheng initially stepped into the world of design with his signature couture collection. Renowned for his impeccable detailing, influence of old world elegance and unparalleled sophistication, his designs have garnered world-wide appeal and been coveted by royalty, celebrities and socialites alike.
Cho Cheng has translated his mastery of unexpected detailing into his premier ready-to-wear collection for Fall 2008. The collection, a fusion of Eastern elegance meets Western modernity, features a couture twist on classic suiting, cocktail attire and evening wear.
"The Fall 2008 ready-to-wear collection is for the woman who seeks effortless glamour," said Cheng. "I have created a collection that has all the style and allure of couture, but the ease and wearability of everyday sophistication."
Cho Cheng will unveil his Fall 2008 collection March 20, 2008 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Cho Cheng couture and ready-to-wear collections will be available at the designer's Manhattan atelier, scheduled to open Summer 2008.
