Neeta wows audience with exotic yet sensuous hues

Presenting a beautiful combination of diffusion and couture collection at Lakme Fashion Week, Neeta Lulla was inspired by the immortal love of a woman.

Weaving her creative story around colours; Neeta played with burgundy, brown, tan, crème and the magnificent gold to bring together a palette that was exotic yet sensuous.

The ensembles were beautiful flowing creations as georgette, lace, satin, wool, silk, velvet and organza came together to work their feminine magic for Autumn/Winter 2008.

It was Bollywood glamour with some creative kitsch styling that made the collection one of the most extravagant of the day.

Starting with a swirling dervish dancer in an ivory kalidar kurta, the show moved to western wear which had a combination of European influences; as lace seductively twinkled from under sheer chiffon skirts and ornate bodices sparkled with gold, sequins, rhinestones and Zardosi embroidery.

Neeta combined ruffles, frills, smocking, rouching and gathers for striking cocktail dresses, multi paneled kurtas, long slinky gown, skirts, with hand knitted woollen jackets, stoles, scarves, coats, shrugs and added very innovative shoulder detailing like wide cuffs and organza rosettes tied with bows.

The creations were ornate and very very elaborate with embellishments that presented a truly opulent formal wear look.

Accessories included matching gloves, woollen bandanas and organza flowers for the head and giant gold hoop earrings.

To prove that Neeta Lulla is a trend setter, her show stopper was not a Bollywood star but the little dynamo, Darsheel Safary, super star of the hit film Taare Zameen Par who strutted confidently down the ramp in a chocolate velvet suit with knit shoulder pads.

Neeta Lulla and flamboyance go well together and her tribute to immortal love proved that here was a collection that was truly unforgettable.
