The look was utterly feminine, totally western and the fabrics were a mix of subtle dazzle. Working around a rich colour palette of scarlet, black, emerald, chestnut, blue, grey, yellow and sapphire; Urvashi Kaur's Autumn/Winter 2008 collection at Lakme Fashion Week was one of grace, glamour and sensuous glitter.
Working on a theme which would be of timeless elegance for the fashion conscious woman, Urvashi dipped into her treasure chest of rich fabrics like duchesse satin, sheer silk, georgette and taffeta to dream up seductive creations.
Delicate bead work highlighted the yokes and necks. The silhouette was at times sculpted to the body or flowed beautifully around the model.
Pretty as a picture for those luxurious formal evenings, the collection had winners like the grey satin knee length dress with puff sleeves and plum pleated yoke and hem, blue silk georgette top with pleated detailing, emerald satin pleated and tiered mini dress, a black satin hooded dress with contrast lining and a scarlet satin cape with pleat detailing on neckline teamed with chestnut satin slim fit capris.
The show stopper was a black satin panelled cross over gown with an over sized bow on shoulder.
For the fashionistas of India as well as around the globe, Urvashi Kaur's stunning evening wear line will be a great seller for the festive season.
