OjaiStyle announces unique Mother's Day gift ideas

OjaiStyle, a new website featuring local Ojai artists and products announced creative ideas for unique Mother's Day gifts. From handmade jewelry and inspirational message cards to fine art and one-of-a-kind pottery, this Mother's Day, May 11, 2008, will be extra meaningful.

“Mother's Day can have different meanings for different people. People can celebrate all of the special women in their lives including mothers, grandmothers and especially significant others,” said Katrina Rice Schmidt, co-founder of OjaiStyle. “Original art and gifts can come in a variety of price ranges but giving a one of a kind, handmade gift will provide special memories for years to come.”

Unique Mother Day gift ideas include:
• "Meeting of the Self" deck card by OjaiStyle artist Shahastra. A set of fifty soul-filled potent images for reflection and inspiration.
• Handmade glass lampworking earrings in 20 colors including Casitas blue by Teal Rowe.
• Rose quartz pendant necklace by Tegan Hope with handmade sterling silver clasp, rose quartz, pearl, crystal, rose quartz pendant.
• “Magnolia” limited edition sepia series by Cindy Pitou Burton. Print on watercolor paper, matted and framed.
• “Flaming Hearts” stoneware vase by Richard Flores. With copper red glossy glaze.

OjaiStyle also announced that photographer Cindy Pitou Burton is the April “Artist of the Month.” Since moving to Ojai, Cindy has been exploring alternative photographic processes, currently working with transfers of Polaroid prints onto watercolor paper as well as digitalizing and manipulating her photographs, creating Giclée prints on fine art papers.
