Broward Duty Free, a joint venture partnership led by The Nuance Group, has won the open tender for a concession to operate four duty-free outlets at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Florida. The concession is valid for an initial five-year term.
Ford Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Florida is one of the fastest growing airports in the US. Along with non-stop service to over forty US cities, the airports offers international flights to Canada, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America and serves over 20 million passengers a year. The four airline terminals feature many restaurants, gift shops and business centers.
The Nuance Group is a majority partner in the Broward Duty Free joint venture partnership uniting The DFASS Group and Williams and Hope Corporation (a certified minority-owned business). Broward Duty Free intends to begin operations in Fort Lauderdale in December of this year, subject to obtaining all the necessary regulatory approvals.
Richard Rendek, CEO North America for The Nuance Group, comments that this new concession will increase their United States business and provide us with an additional platform for continued expansion. They are excited about the opportunity to develop the duty-free concession at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and they believe that there is a substantial opportunity to grow the duty-free business there.
