Vivek Karunakaran's Viia label had the perfect cocktail collection titled, Uber Chic for Autumn/winter 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week, which had the right doses of colour embellishments and styling to appeal to the international audience.
Rich colours formed the basis of the collection with black and grey blended with touches of jade and wine. To match the mood of the collection the fabrics were utterly feminine starting with georgette, satin, chiffon and silk.
To keep to the mood of the season, leggings were the favoured accessory with ankle warmers added for a shirt dress with colour blocking at front in wine and tie-up at back.
Keeping the silhouette simple Vivek had shift dresses miniskirts some high waist flared skirts and quilted cropped jackets, empire line dresses and bustiers.
The embellishments were restrained with placement embroidery like sequins for cuffs, necks, hem, 3 tones embroidery on the bodice or cutwork at the edges, lots of gathering and quilting, pleating and some interesting paneling.
Some of the interesting creations in a collection that was controlled and feminine; were the build up boat neck dress in georgette with three tones embellishment, the double layered georgette satin dress with textured form in black, a slate grey, blocked pleated chiffon dress, satin kimono top with quilted silk waistband in jade and black, the stylish quilted cropped satin jacket with contrast binding in wine and the fitted shirt dress with 3 colour paneling at hem in black jade and wine.
Uber Chic was exactly how one can describe Vivek Karunakarn's collection which will add style and elegance to women's wardrobes.
